Queer Pendulum Recommending shows for people gives me hives, and stress, a lot of stress! But I do like just talking about the TV shows I enjoyed without particularly recommending you watch them, but suggesting you investigate further if it sounds like your cup of tea (peach iced tea for me please). So on to my 5 TV shows of 2014 (I could list hundreds but we must censor ourselves sometimes, mustn’t we?)
- The 100 – So much awesome for me! I love the cameos from more well regarded sci-fi shows. Although it comes with teen angst, you kind of understand their emotions considering the post apocalyptic setting.
- Mozart in The Jungle – I have only watched the first 2 episodes but I know its going to a show I want more of
- Playing House – after 6 months of painful, aggravating and hopelessly hopeless waiting it got picked up for a second season! Huzzah!
- Manhattan Love Story – many did not like this but I thought it was a gem that was thrown to the side and cancelled.
- Finding Carter – I’m curious as to how the second season will pan out … interesting premise!
AnEnigmaWrappedUpInAConundrum So, what did I love this year… hmmm.
- Madam Secretary – Tea Leoni has a very sexy voice. Matched with her character’s personality and some Secretary of State whoopah it’s just a great show. I’ll be angry if they don’t renew for a second season after the holiday break.
- Playing House – So many quotable moments! “Your body be bangin’!”
- Young and Hungry – I watched this to see what Emily Osmond has been up to since her “before Miley went cray cray” days. She’s looking pretty fit and I loved all of the token characters. Especially the many inappropriate comments that just seemed to roll through easily.
- Blue Bloods – I picked this up for a deal at Sanity and have enjoyed it so much I bought the next two seasons.
- Anzac Girls – Great show for the centenary. Although it did focus more on relationships than the war, I did enjoy it and I thought it was well cast and well shot.
BigBootsManofWar TV takes up a lot of my headspace, and I unashamedly adore it. So, it’s gonna be a real struggle to narrow it down to five.
- House of Cards — Oh my lord, this show. Kevin Spacey talking into the camera gives you chills. It’s a sinister, clever, debauched political drama that will make you lose all faith in politics (and fall in love).
- Game of Thrones — Even though they’re not staying totally true to the books, which I also adored, the show is one of my favourite things in the TV world. End of.
- The Newsroom — So I haven’t seen the actual final season yet, but I loved loved loved the first two. Refreshing, clever, and lovely relationships.
- Utopia — This was an ABC show, based in the Department of Infrastructure, fictionalised as ‘Nation Building Australia’. It was hilariously realistic. Oh god, the awkward pain.
- Wentworth — I watched S2 this year, and this remake of the old 70s Prisoner is just as good, if not a little better (ssh). Realistic, awesome acting, and kick-ass power dynamics.
#TheRealCookieMonster I love all TV. And cookies. Mm. Cookies.
- Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D — Anything to do with Marvel is awesome. Integration of story-lines with the movies in Marvelverse was really effective, and sped up the narrative from its relatively slow start.
- Game of Thrones — The awesome continuation of an awesome series. Loved the new characters (even if they didn’t last long).
- Arrow — Really cool to see lots of collaboration and Easter Eggs for the hardcore fans of the comics.
- The Flash — Loved the 90s show, and had to see the updated version. Wasn’t disappointed!
- Gotham — A well shot prequel, which brings in lots of characters from the DC-verse. Very kooky.
AliceThroughTheLookingGlass
- Orange is the New Black — This is absolutely perfection. No show has managed to make me hate and love characters so much. It’s better if you just watch it. Or rewatch it.
- Archer — This is probably one of the funniest cartons I’ve seen that jumps from being both smart and stupid at different points. Also very quotable!
- Haven — A crime-fighting show with a twist, this is a great show to get lost in.
- Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends — I don’t really have a reason as to why I like this so much, but I do and you are just going to have to accept that as fact.
- Sons of Anarchy — I never really got into the club’s illegal activities, but prefer the drama side to the show. My BF liked the action, so it was good for couple’s days indoors.
